Opinion article by the president of the eAtlantic Foundation

Ahead of the opening of the State of Europe event, the President of eAtlantic, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, has published an opinion piece in Critical Thinking, the online magazine of Friends of Europe, advocating the need to localise the European project. To avoid the application of homogeneous policies to diverse realities, he proposes that, building on frameworks defined at the European level, their flexible implementation should be encouraged “allowing each territory to develop its own dialogue and coordination strategies, while remaining aligned with shared global objectives”. Localising Europe to build more Europe. In this vein, and only a few days after Mario Draghi drew attention to the limited progress made in implementing the proposals he set out just a year ago, the President of eAtlantic calls for the territorialisation of the proposals contained in the Draghi and Letta Reports.
Iñigo Urkullu
In his opinion piece, Lehendakari Urkullu advocates for strengthening democracy through citizen participation, and, as President of eAtlantic, endorses both Enrico Letta’s “Call to Action” and Mario Draghi’s proposal to foster enhanced cooperation as a means to advance in competitiveness and prosperity. Formulating proposals to promote network-based development lies at the core of Fundación eAtlantic Fundazioa’s mission.
