•The President of Galicia’s regional government (XUNTA), Alfonso Rueda, met this afternoon with Íñigo Urkullu, former Basque leader and now head of the newly created eAtlantic Foundation, to discuss closer cooperation aimed at bolstering Europe’s Atlantic seaboard
Rueda, joined by regional Presidency, Justice and Sports Minister Diego Calvo, was briefed on the foundation’s strategic priorities. The organisation, launched in April and led by Urkullu, seeks to promote participatory, multi-level governance across the European Union while strengthening the role of the Atlantic regions within Europe’s broader development agenda.
Also present at the meeting was Marian Elorza, the foundation’s General Director, as part of the organisation’s wider networking efforts to raise awareness and forge alliances.
The eAtlantic Foundation focuses on bringing together public and private actors along Europe’s Atlantic coast to promote sustainable growth, competitiveness, and democratic values. Its mission aligns with United Nations development goals, while also defending the principle of regional autonomy within the EU framework.
