The eAtlantic Foundation held a meeting on Friday in Brussels with members of the Basque Country Delegation to the European Union. The encounter served to present the Foundation’s objectives and to further strengthen ties between the two entities.
During the cordial and constructive meeting, the President of eAtlantic, Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, expressed his pleasure at returning to the Delegation’s headquarters and set out the key principles underpinning the Foundation’s creation -notably its commitment to advancing shared prosperity across the Atlantic seaboard. The Foundation’s Director, Marian Elorza, and Principal Researcher, Juanjo Álvarez, also outlined the initiatives already under way, particularly those focused on establishing research teams.
For her part, Marta Marín, the Basque Country’s Delegate to the EU, expressed her appreciation for the visit and offered her “full cooperation” in contributing, through the Delegation, to the achievement of the Foundation’s objectives. During the meeting, both parties discussed several aspects of European policy, recognising the crucial moment currently facing the international order.
This meeting in the Belgian capital marked the conclusion of the eAtlantic Foundation’s programme of activities in Brussels, which began on Wednesday, 15 October, with its participation in the Friends of Europe Forum as part of a broad delegation representing 40 countries.
Alongside their participation in the gala dinner that opened this internationally acclaimed forum and in Thursday’s debate sessions, the eAtlantic delegation -Lehendakari Iñigo Urkullu, Marian Elorza and Juanjo Álvarez- also signed a cooperation agreement with the Jacques Delors Friends of Europe Foundation to foster joint work in their respective fields of research on European affairs.
